Pink Bus Karachi: A much needed initiative for women empowerment

ISLAMABAD, Feb 2: Sindh government has introduced the Pakistan first ever women-only bus service in Karachi on February 1 with the slogan of Women Empowerment.

The Pink bus service is a much-needed solution to the problems associated with safe and secure transportation for women in Karachi city.

The Sindh Information and Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon had announced that Pink Bus Service would remain free for 7 days, i.e. Till February 7.

As per detail, initially eight buses have been introduced so far that would operate on a single route from Model Colony, Malir to Tower via Sharea Faisal from 7am till 10pm. 

During peak hours in the morning and evening, the dedicated bus service will operate every 20 minutes and every hour during the rest of the day. 

It will offer best facilitate to the college and university students and office-going women, as the fare is only Rs50. 

The initiative is commendable, and will bring confidence within the working women with ease in traveling. Other provinces should also follow such helpful plans.
