Winter tourism booms in Swat with snowfall in Kalam, Malamjabba

MALAM JABBA, Jan 11: Winter tourism got a high boom in Swat district after rains and snowfall in Malam Jabba and Kalam valleys, attracting a substantial number of tourists from across the country to enjoy snowball games and skiing.

Following torrential rains and snowfall in Malam Jabba, Kalam, Bahrain and other areas of upper Swat on Wednesday, the tourists along with families from Khyber Pakthunkhwa and Punjab provinces thronged to the scenic valleys to enjoy the change in weather amid great fun and excitement.

The 150-kilometer-long freshwater of the River Swat originating from different glaciers and lakes including Mahodand and Gabral mountains offers unique opportunities for adventure sports enthusiasts to explore in a day trip along with loved ones, especially during summer.

Despite poor roads condition due to last year’s devastating floods in Upper Swat, The view of snowfall in Malam Jabba was worth seeing as many tourists with families were seen enjoying skiing, snowballs and other games inspite of stumbling on snow-covered mountain terrains.

The domestic tourists were arriving in substantial numbers, mostly from KP and Punjab, to Swat following MET office report about moderate to heavy snowfall in Kalam, Malam Jabba and other scenic areas of Northern KP in three days.

As promised $100,000 transfered to Sri Lankan Kumara’s widow

Sialkot business community has transfered $100,000 to account of Priyantha Kumara’s widow .   Alongwith this accumulative amount, a monthly salary of $2000 will be transfer to her account by the Rajco Industries, which they will do for 10 yrs (years). CTP completes traffic arrangements for long march

Traffic scenario in Rawalpindi for Imran Khan long march  RAWALPINDI, May 24: City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi has completed all the arrangements to maintain smooth flow of traffic amid long march call declared by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). According to the police spokesman, during the long march, more than 462 personnel would be on duty for the convenience of the citizens.  Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Naveed Irshad said additional personnel have been deployed on all major highways including Peshawar Road, Mall Road and Murree Road.  He informed that the traffic would be diverted from diversion points to alternate routes whereas additional duties have also been assigned on diversion points and alternate routes.  "There will be traffic police deployed at all points to maintain the flow of traffic," he added. The citizens should travel 20 minutes prior to their schedule to avoid any inconvenience and also avoid unnecessary travelling, he maintained
