Sasta Petrol & Sasta Diesel Scheme starts process of paying Rs.2000

ISLAMABAD, Jun 21: Government has started the process of making payments of Rs.2000 to the existing eight million beneficiaries of the Benazir Kafalat program in view of rising prices of petroleum products in the country.

The payments have started under the Sasta Petrol/Sasta Diesel Scheme of the government which is being executed under the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP).

According to the BISP, after receiving payment message from BISP, the registered families of Benazir Kafalat Program belonged from Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan may receive their payments from biometric ATMs of Habib Bank and those from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir from Bank Alfalah.

All those who are not registered in Benazir Kafalat and have applied in the scheme by sending an SMS to 786 are requested to wait for the message of eligibility and payment.  

They will receive a payment message shortly after the message of fulfilling the required eligibility criteria.

It is pertinent to mention here that the federal cabinet approved a relief package of worth Rs. 28 billion to counter the effects of increased petroleum prices on the poor citizens.

The package covering 14 million families (overall 90 million people) which is around 30 percent of the total population has entered the phase of execution through starting payments of Rs. 2000 to the existing eight million beneficiaries of Benazir Kafalat Program.

However, six million people are being identified through the National 

Socio-Economic Registry (NSER). Those who have less than Rs. 40,000 monthly income can apply for the scheme through sending SMS to 786.

Islamabad police launches WhatsApp number for citizens

Feb 16: Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police Wednesday launched WhatsApp number, enabling citizens direct access to police related services on smart phones. The citizens will receive all information about police services after getting themselves registered by sending a simple message on WhatsApp number 03342874287, 033ICTP  ICTP. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Muhammad Ahsan Younus, in his video message termed the step towards modern policing in the federal capital.
